Has New Jersey’s Population Increased Since 2020?

There were reports about New Jersey’s population decreasing, especially during COVID, but the new estimates from the Census Bureau reveal a slight turnaround in the decline; there is actually a small increase according to the latest 2023 estimate. (Please remember that population numbers outside the decennial census are always labeled as “estimates” as these data are derived from survey samples and not full headcounts.)

There are estimates for the other states as well, along with comparative tables. Statistics for cities and towns over 20,000 are available as well as for counties.
